Welcome to the partially updated Wraysbury News page!

Results from 2008's earlier regattas, both Skiffing and Punting, will be updated within the next few weeks. If you have any newsworthy material, please email it to Michael O'Neill <michael.oneill@dsl.pipex.com> or Ben Costello <ben.costello@live.com>

Egham Regatta- 2008

Full results listings of both Rowing and Skiffing will be uploaded to the results section in the near future. Wraysbury had a few crews entered, could have been more however! Ben Costello and Amy Powers (coxed by Pam Silvey) won the mixed Novice Doubles, and Steve Myhill and Myra Buckley won the Veteran Invitation Doubles in an all Wraysbury final.

TVSC Club Regatta

Only two entries for Wraysbury at this regatta. B. Costello won Gents novice singles, but Noreen Titmarsh and Ashley "Burt" Reynolds just lost in the final of the Junior Mixed Doubles. We won't even talk about what happened with the Wraysbury Dongola, but let's just say that some more practice will be needed before next time!

Hampton Court & Dittons Regatta (DSPC)

Despite several Wraysbury entries for this regatta, we only came away with one pot. This win however was a full-point win by Laurence Manning in the Gents Novice Singles, who had been Skiffing for only a few weeks!

Chertsey Regatta

This has definately been the best Wraysbury performance so far this year, with WSPC crews in EIGHT finals (two of them being all-wraysbury). WSPC came away with 5 pots in total. Ben Costello and Burt Reynolds won the Gents Novice Doubles, Laurence Manning and Gaby Turner won Mixed Junior Doubles (Gaby having Skiffed for the first time just four days before the regatta day), Cornelius O'Neill won the Gents Junior Singles in against WSPC's Ken Ducas in the final, Ben Costello won Gents Novice Singles, just beating a knackered Laurence Manning in the final by one foot. Amy Powers and "Scary Mary" Sherry just lost in the final of the Ladies Novice Doubles, and Chris Thornton and Alf Spiteri did excellently in their first Skiff race together in the GND's. Altogether a rather good day for WSPC!

Training during the week

Training commences on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays during the main rowing season, and circuit training usually takes place on Wednesdays during the winter. Tuesday training does not take place during the Winter months.
